McCordComdr. Frank C. McCord, USN, born at Vincennes, Ind., 2 August 1890, was appointed midshipman 5 July 1907. From 1925 on, his career centered on naval aviation. On 30 June 1932 he reported for duty on the dirigible Akron, assuming command 3 January 1933. He died when the lighter-than-air craft crashed off the coast of New Jersey, 4 April 1933.
